Tenon ® Limited is a wood products processing, marketing and distribution business. The Group focuses on the high value moulding and millwork markets in the United States. The Group has strong supplier relationships for finished mouldings and boards with the independent pro dealer segment and has channels into two of the largest home improvement chains in the United States: Lowe’s and indirectly The Home Depot. The Group also supplies appearance grade lumber to a number of US moulding and millwork manufacturers. As well as providing a channel to market for Tenon’s New Zealand products, the Company’s distribution businesses, Fletcher Wood Solutions ® Inc., The Empire Company, Inc and the Ornamental Mouldings group of companies, also source significant quantities of finished mouldings and millwork products from other suppliers.
The Company is a limited liability company incorporated and domiciled in New Zealand, with its headquarters in Annapolis, MD. The Company is listed on the New Zealand stock exchange. As of May 22, 2007 the Group was 57.37% owned by Rubicon Limited and its subsidiaries and 18.06% owned by Third Avenue Management, with the balance owned by institutions and retail shareholders.
The Company operates through three major divisions, (i) Fletcher Wood Solutions ® Inc., which operates the New Zealand manufacturing facilities and is the principal distributor of its products in North America, (ii) the Ornamental Mouldings group, which has manufacturing facilities in the US and Canada, and (iii) the Empire group, which includes 75.5% -owned Southwest Moulding Co.
Specifically, the Company manufactures and distributes the following products:
- Solid, clearwood mouldings and boards and appearance grade lumber
- Treated and primed products for outdoor use
- High-value ornate mouldings and decorative millwork products
- Stair parts and exterior doorframes
